Throughout the month of June, we're highlighting LGBTQ+ BIPOC leaders. As members of the Hue community, these folks are making an impact not only for Pride month, but all year long.
Calvin Walker (he/him)
Meet Calvin Walker. He’s a freelance strategy consultant based in Brooklyn working with a range of organizations, from companies like Google to nonprofits, helping to refine their go-to-market projects in the experiential and social spaces.
Outside of work: You can find him involved with a mix of passion projects. One of those is writing, including a manuscript he’s recently written about a gay man who flees to New York City to reinvent himself and falls into the music industry. He's also building his own online publication as a destination for readers and writers alike.
Thoughts on Hue: Calvin appreciates being reminded that he's part of a true community of like-minded people with shared experiences. “Those little bursts… are the subtle signals that carry a big impact. That's powerful!” he says.
Taryn Talley (she/her)
Meet Taryn Talley, a senior marketing leader based in the San Francisco Bay area. She’s had a dynamic career in both B2C and B2B marketing and has been featured for her work on NASDAQ. She's also developed a personal brand that advocates for the transgender community and the broader LGBTQ2SIA community by elevating their voices and sharing their journeys.
Outside of work: You can find Taryn co-hosting her podcast, Transcending Humanity, where she dives deep on the environment that trans and non-binary communities face everyday.
Thoughts on Hue: “What I've always liked about this community is the content that they share and their mission that is supported by that content. It's something that resonates with me and something I want to be a part of,” she says.
Eshani Parikh (they/them)
Meet Eshani Parikh, a New York City-based marketer and sports super fan. They are the Director of Brand Marketing for the NBA G League at the NBA, where they're reaching new fans and telling the stories of the hard-working and talented players across the league. They’re working to increase LGBTQ+ representation in sports.
Outside of work: You can find Eshani going to see live music and traveling. They’re always exploring Google Flights for the next big adventure that awaits.
Thoughts on Hue: Through the Hue Next leadership accelerator, they were “able to connect with like minded folks across the country who work in other industries.” They love how supportive the community has been, whether it meant helping someone in the community amplify each other's content or work – or something directly related to their job or goals.
Diego Gonzalez-Zuniga (he/him)
Meet Diego Gonzalez-Zuniga, with expertise in the fashion, marketing, and community spheres based in New York City. He has a unique blend of retail and marketing expertise as well as advocacy for neighborhood enrichment. Case in point: Diego was the Marketing & Events Manager for the NoMa Business Improvement District in D.C. where he was instrumental in transforming the area into a flourishing, mixed-use neighborhood. As a seasoned digital and social media marketing expert, he now focuses on providing consulting services, primarily catering to clients in the retail and hospitality sectors.
Outside of work: Diego runs his blog, Diego Downtown with the goal of making it a destination for the modern, fashion-conscious man. It includes fashion trends, grooming tips, and personal development advice, for those striving to elevate their lifestyle and wardrobe.
Thoughts on Hue: Diego has had “the unique opportunity to meet and engage with many diverse leaders from various industries – connections I would not have normally had access to. Meeting these leaders has broadened my perspective and enriched my professional network.” He’s built relationships IRL, and these face-to-face meetings have facilitated more meaningful collaborations, ultimately helping him to gain insights from different leadership styles and strategies.
Jerrica Long (she/her)
Meet Jerrica Long, a Los Angeles-based social strategist and brand builder obsessed with culture and creators. She’s currently the Senior Director of Social Strategy at Known.
Outside of work: You can find Jerrica performing her craft as a comedian. She's also launching a newsletter called Jerrica On Social, where she’s looking to cover topics such as culture, comedy, and building engaged audiences on social media.
Thoughts on Hue: “I’ve found community.” Since joining Hue, she’s “learned a lot about navigating [her] career from others [across the community]” along with how to better show up for herself and others in the space.
