Tamika Young, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Hinge
Hinge says it’s “designed to be deleted.”
Tamika Young has spent part of her first year as the company’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer making that promise literal.
Hinge’s One More Hour initiative has committed millions of dollars to Gen Z-founded social and community organizations, supporting the kinds of real-world gatherings that happen away from the app.
Then came “Can’t Believe We Met on Hinge,” built around real couples talking about what they thought of dating apps before they met each other.
It’s an unusual proposition for a dating company: the best outcome of the product is the moment the product disappears.
Young has extended that same human-centered approach into how Hinge creates culture around the brand. The third chapter of “No Ordinary Love” is an audiobook for the first time, distributed across Spotify, Libby, Apple Audiobooks, Barnes & Noble Audiobooks, Substack and other listening platforms. Built from honest, imperfect stories about real dating conversations, it brings Hinge into spaces well beyond the traditional advertising ecosystem and reflects Young’s broader strategy of working with creators, writers and podcasters to tell stories people can recognize themselves in.
The throughline is consistent. Young isn’t trying to persuade people to spend more time on Hinge. She’s building a brand around what happens after the app — in real life, in relationships and increasingly in culture itself.
