The Wellth 30: The Talent Multiplier

This profile is part of the Wellth 30, a curated recognition of the leaders building enduring brands, communities, and culture.

Vineet Mehra, Chief Growth and Marketing Officer, Chime

Vineet Mehra thinks the marketing chief of the future needs to be more than a marketer.

He has argued that the role requires five capabilities, including financial strategy, AI fluency, cultural understanding, talent development and community building. The last two are the ones that tend to disappear from the job description.

He learned that lesson under pressure. At Walgreens Boots Alliance during the pandemic, marketing meant helping keep stores operating and pharmacists on the front line. His starting point was personal: manage yourself before trying to manage everyone else.

At Chime, where he was promoted into the Chief Growth Officer role, the same philosophy shapes how he thinks about teams. If he were building from scratch today, he says he would want an AI-native technologist, a growth leader who thinks like a capital allocator, and a creative leader with real taste.

The future marketing department, in his telling, looks a lot more like a company.
