Mark Edmonson, Chief Marketing Officer, Newman's Own
Newman’s Own has spent more than four decades making the same unusual promise: 100% of profits go to charity. Mark Anthony Edmonson’s job is to make sure consumers still want the food.
His work at the company has been about sharpening the commercial side without abandoning the purpose. The new “Great Ingredients. Greater Purpose.” positioning puts the product first and lets the giving follow.
That’s not a small distinction for a company whose identity is inseparable from philanthropy.
Edmonson arrived from Materne North America, where he led GoGo squeeZ, after earlier roles at Procter & Gamble, Campbell Soup and Henkel. At Newman’s Own, he’s helping modernize the business for new families while treating Paul Newman’s original purpose as an advantage rather than a museum piece.
His argument is refreshingly practical: purpose can get you to the shelf. The product has to get you back.
